Introduction to the English Major is designed to help students become more sophisticated readers of literature, history, and culture, to apply their thoughts about literature to their everyday life, to become better and more sophisticated writers, and finally, to demonstrate a critical understanding of and appreciation for literature (including figurative language, plot, character, point of view, imagery, theme, setting, irony, tone, symbols, and language).

The goal of this blog assignment is to provide students with opportunities to explore issues raised during class discussions, expand on ideas from the readings, and reflect on the culture they are experiencing.  My hope is that these blogs will provide us with a space to make connections between the readings we are doing and the experiences we are having in class and in the world around us.
